What's Baking?

Welcome to www.grainpower.org! As we launch the Grains for LIFE campaign, this is a very exciting time for the Grain Foods Foundation and we're so glad you've found us on the web.

At a time when Americans have become overwhelmed with often conflicting and sometimes suspect nutritional advice, healthy doses of common sense, wholesome goodness, and sound science are desperately needed, especially when it comes to enriched and whole grains. And that's where the Grain Foods Foundation can help.

The Grains for LIFE campaign is dedicated to advancing the public's understanding of the beneficial role grain-based foods play in the human diet. Although more and more Americans are welcoming bread back to their tables, we know from consumer research that the vast majority of consumers are unaware of how bread can contribute to the prevention of heart disease, some cancers, birth defects and diabetes, as well as maintaining optimal health. We're aiming to balance that equation by reinforcing all the reasons why including bread in your diet is a smart choice.

The information, facts and materials you'll find on this site are based on sound science. We have worked hand-in-hand with a team of nationally recognized experts in nutrition, healthcare and physical activity to develop scientifically-backed resources for Americans to keep in mind at the supermarket and as they make daily food choices:

  • Enriched bread and grains are not only good for us, they are an essential source for the daily requirements of folic acid, riboflavin, niacin, thiamine, as well as calcium and iron for all Americans
  • Calories are calories, no matter where they come from
  • Consuming more calories than we burn results in weight gain
  • Grain-based foods contain vital nutrients our bodies need to be healthy and active

Bread. It's Essential.
